OK, thanks. Can you please get a hal debugging output, as described on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingHal, open a new bug against hal, and attach the log there? Please give me the other bugs' number here, to keep the cross-reference. Thanks, the ck-list-sessions output looks fine. Since you don't get an automatic ACL, there must be something wrong with hal. Do you have hal installed (dpkg -s hal). -- libgphoto2 missing udev rules? https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/267238 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

libgphoto deliberately does not have any udev rules in Ubuntu 9.04 and earlier, closing again. [Bug 267238] Re: libgphoto2 missing udev rules?
I'm affected by this bug as well. I can access my camera as root but not as a normal user. Ubuntu Alternate 9.04. I don't do Gnome or KDE. ck-list-sessions gives no output, as a normal user or root. r...@beast:~# lsusb Bus 002 Device 009: ID 04a9:3184 Canon, Inc. [Bug 267238] Re: libgphoto2 missing udev rules?
We are not using udev rules any more, since they become obsolete too fast. Instead we are using hal and consolekit to assign Access Control Lists to /dev/bus/usb/... to the local foreground console user. Do you see a session in "ck-list-sessions"? Please copy&paste the output of that, and "getfacl /dev/bus/usb/XXX/YYY" here.
