First of all the network-manager (atleast the latest) doesn't use
/etc/network/interfaces -file to setup network. Also this package isn't
related to the installer.

As you said that The eth0 interface is set properly, I will close this
bug for network-manger.

As your eth0 interface is set properly, there is no need to crate a bug for 
this package. Again, it seems that on new installs, the file 
/etc/network/interfaces should have only (as the network is done by 
network-manager by default):
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
