Unfortunately this is the case. Lexmark don't provide a driver, and as yet no other developers have written one for that model of printer for Linux. Our systems here have a bunch, and there is a 7000 product line that may be good enough for text and such. For some reason, they all seem to think that the default page size is A4, and you have to change it back to Letter after you set it up. There is indeed a Lexmark 7000 printer listed in the drivers provided with Ubuntu. However many manufacturers dramatically change the innards of the printer, even within the same 'series' of device. So there's no guarantee that printing with the 7000 driver will achieve any output at all, let alone correct output. You can of course try, but that's the best you can do. Unfortunately there's no realistic prospect of a driver being made available for this printer.
