I am no longer using KDE, so I can't re-confirm, sorry. However, do feel

2012-02-21 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
We haven't heard back about this bug in a long while. As far as I can
tell, things work properly in NetworkManager-OpenVPN plugin.

Tore, could you please confirm whether this is still an issue for you
starting openvpn tunnels from the KDE NetworkManager plasma applet?

[Bug 275111] Re: knetworkmanager fails to start OpenVPN tunnel

2009-11-23 Thread Downhill Games
So what really happened was there was a large number of bugs in a
particular desktop feature that made the whole app completely unusable.
Because upstream changed, this never got fixed. Yet again, F* the user,
developers are more important.

Three friends (that's 3 people who otherwise don't use Linux directly
whatsoever) have stopped using Kubuntu/given up on Linux completely
because of bugs like these. And guess what! The replacement for this
broken-ass, bolt-on Network Manager crap didn't work, either!

Thank you for showing how fanfailtastic Kubuntu can be as a product, and
how little developers really care about their end-users.

See you in 2010! The Year of Linux on %1 of the Desktop! Again.

...Maybe Bug #1 wasn't such a bug after all.

[Bug 275111] Re: knetworkmanager fails to start OpenVPN tunnel

2009-09-03 Thread Jonathan Thomas
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Kubuntu better. The KDE3 version of KNetworkManager has been
discontinued by its original authors. This unfortunately means that
there will be no more bugfix releases, and updates in general will be
limited to those fixing security flaws.

While we cannot fix your bug, the good news is that the applet has been
totally rewritten for KDE4 in the upcoming Kubuntu 9.10 release. There
is a good chance that this bug is no longer an issue with the new
applet. If you find any similar or new issues with the applet included
in Kubuntu 9.10, we would politely ask you to file them as new bugs
against the plasma-widget-networkmanagement package.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

2009-02-10 Thread Yves Glodt
kicking this into gear would indeed be nice...

Maybe I misunderstand the principles of ubuntus QA, and what upgrades of
a stable release distro mean, but imho it's at best not very
userfriendly if such a bug is not dealt with at all. At least it's just
a poor QA. What's the point of reporting the bug here at all? Should we
report it upstream instead?

[Bug 275111] Re: knetworkmanager fails to start OpenVPN tunnel

2008-10-23 Thread Tore Anderson
The error messages shown has changed a bit, now the only thing printed
after I tell Knetworkmanager to start VPN, is:

Oct 23 08:52:33 envy NetworkManager: WARN
wait_for_connection_expired(): Connection (2)
/org/freedesktop/NetworkManagerSettings/Connection/2 failed to activate
(timeout): (0) Connection was not provided by any settings service

...and nothing happens.

Seeing how the GNOME nm-applet can't see Knetworkmanager's VPN
definitions and vice verca, and how the GNOME applet is able to
successfully start the connection, I suspect Knetworkmanager is saving
the connection definition in an incorrect way, so that the
NetworkManager system daemon are unable to pick up the settings, and it
fails. But that's just guessing...

[Bug 275111] Re: knetworkmanager fails to start OpenVPN tunnel

2008-10-23 Thread Tore Anderson
Nevermind, just tried after deinstalling the GNOME applet and rebooting.
Now the error is again the segfault in nm-openvpn-serv.

State = Confirmed, since I see there has been submitted a duplicate of
my bug report too. I merged the two.
