Right, I am just bumping this bug in the hope someone wants to look into it. I would not call this purely a wishlist as it makes many dialogues including many from the installer unusable at lower screen resolutions. If you try using Ubuntu at 1024x600 or lower (it is apparent on the eeepc 1000h which has the largest screens of the netbook category of devices), many high profile programs and other windows are not usable without changing this setting - a situation which is not acceptable and should be considered as a bug as it directly impedes people from using the software in a standard and necessary manor. it is in /apps/compiz/plugins/move/allscreens/options/constrain_ y - set to 0 to allow free moving of the windows. This is a serious issue considering the popularity of netbooks (like the eeepc from which I am typing this) an the regression in compiz as compared to metacity in the default setup.
