Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ghostscript
When I print an image from GIMP, I notice nothing unusual in the cups error, access, or page logs, however 'gs' eats up all available memory within seconds, and then starts swapping. It brings my machine to it's knees. After about 30 seconds I am able to kill it from a 'top' window I leave running. The normal SIG_TERM (15) is able to kill it without resorting to SIG_KILL (9) After killing the process I get the expected line in /var/log/cups/error_log: E [29/Sep/2008:22:42:29 -0700] PID 13471 (/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip) stopped with status 9! E [29/Sep/2008:22:42:29 -0700] [Job 211] Job stopped due to filter errors. I am running the latest Intrepid updates from today (09/29/2008) ** Affects: ghostscript (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- printing from gimp causes 'gs' to run away and eat up memory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/276188 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
