I said the following: On an HP d530, I experience this bug. Even after using ht=on on kernel command line, HT is not enabled on latest 8.10 kernel 2.6.28-15-generic. I meant to say 9.04 not 8.10. I shall load a CD with the latest 9.10. I have taken the CPU out of the system and found it is an SL6PE. http://www.cpu-world.com/sspec/SL/SL6PE.html Although the CPU shows the HT flag, it actually does not support hyperthreading. I installed an SL6S5. Since installing, hyperthreading is enabled whether or not I add ht=on in the kernel boot parameters. It appears the ht flag in /proc/cpuinfo is not a reliable way to determine whether a CPU supports hyperthreading. If the issue remains, please run following command from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal).
