I don't think this should be resolved just yet. I have a Dreambook (CLEVO) more info here: http://www.pioneercomputers.com.au/products/info.asp?c1=3c2=166id=2359 It's a dual core, 64 bit machine. Due to some software incompatability we're running a 32bit Ubuntu Intrepid on it. cpu model: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T8100 @ 2.10GHz kernel 2.6.27-11-generic The symptom I get is that if there's no activity at the console for approx 15 minutes the machine appears to go into some sort of suspended state but simply moving the mouse or pressing a key resumes instantly from where it left off. IE I can leave a terminal window open with a ping to another host on the lan. And from the other host I can ping the laptop. Now when it freezes the local terminal window stops scrolling ping results and my machine gets host unreachable. I go bump the mouse and everything's back to normal. I performed a fresh install on the box. Both ubuntu8.10-server and ubuntu-8.10-desktop with most current kernel Linux shoshin 2.6.27-9-generic #1 SMP Thu Nov 20 21:57:00 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux show the same behaviour. The forced file system check during system startup seems to hang as well until I press Ctrl. Situation only got worse - when I'm connected via ssh, the machine freezes until a key is pressed at the system's physical keyboard. Still the same situation - happens quite regularly during system startup. Last message is Checking battery state ... If I run aptitude it sometimes helps to press the Ctrl-key to keep the machine working.
