My old connection, that I already configured with this install of Fedora 9, still works. But I cannot create a new one, because I cannot set the parameters. When I set the type to "password with certificates", I can set the parameters over "advanced", but that is the wrong type of connection. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 0.7.0 16.svn4027.fc9 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a new openvpn-connection, type "password". 2. Go to "Advanced..." Actual results: Only "General" shows up. Expected results: "Certificates (TLS)" should show up, as well, to configure TLS auth. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 9. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '9'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 9's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 9 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. Fedora 9 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed. I am also using the vpn access to said university's network and I can confirm that it works in the current Jaunty beta with netowrk-manager- openvpn-0.7.1~20090213+bzr14-0ubuntu1. -- [Intrepid regression]Cannot configure password authentication with TLS auth any more https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/282752 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 282752] Re: [Intrepid regression]Cannot configure password authentication with TLS auth any more
Same here as mentioned by der_vegi (on 2009-01-05): Using networkmanager from http://ppa.launchpad.net/network-manager the option for TLS shows up, but settings are not safed. The connection then fails and gives out a timeout message (see syslog attached). As der_vergi, I'm trying to connect to the Humboldt University (Berlin, Germany) network. I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 with network-manager-openvpn 0.7-0ubuntu1~nm1~intrepid. ** Attachment added: syslog http://launchpadlibrarian.net/2390/syslog -- [Intrepid regression]Cannot configure password authentication with TLS auth any more https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/282752 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 282752] Re: [Intrepid regression]Cannot configure password authentication with TLS auth any more
Yeah, there are 36k potential linux users affected in this university. ;) As the vpn-connection is not too stable in combination with the wireless offered, this is kind of annoying for beginners who have to use the console. Right now, I am also sitting next to a friend explaining this to her... -- [Intrepid regression]Cannot configure password authentication with TLS auth any more https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/282752 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 282752] Re: [Intrepid regression]Cannot configure password authentication with TLS auth any more
Well, the option is there again, but I still cannot connect in Jaunty with the latest version 0.7.1~20090213+bzr14-0ubuntu1: Importing the settings from a client.conf or setting them manually according to my administrator's description does not work, while using the same client.conf from command-line with 'openvpn client.conf' works. I get an error 'no valid VPN-secrets'. ** Attachment added: the configuration file client.conf http://launchpadlibrarian.net/23611366/client-configuration.conf -- [Intrepid regression]Cannot configure password authentication with TLS auth any more https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/282752 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Marking as confirmed, as some friends using Ubuntu 8.10 on different machines have the same problem connecting to the above mentioned university network. ** Changed in: network-manager-openvpn (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- [Intrepid regression]Cannot configure password authentication with TLS auth any more https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/282752 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 282752] Re: [Intrepid regression]Cannot configure password authentication with TLS auth any more
I have installed network-manager 0.7-0ubuntu1~nm1~intrepid1 and network-manager-openvpn 0.7-0ubuntu1~nm1~intrepid from http://ppa.launchpad.net/network-manager now. I can indeed set TLS using password-auth over advanced. But network-manager-openvpn does not save these settings, the next time, I open the configuration dialogue again, these settings are lost. Some error messages attached. The configuration I am using is described here: http://www.cms.hu-berlin.de/dl/netze/vpn/openvpn . ** Attachment added: nm_errors http://launchpadlibrarian.net/20918334/nm_errors -- [Intrepid regression]Cannot configure password authentication with TLS auth any more https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/282752 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The fix has been upstream for almost 2 months now.
