Ubuntu Tweak has template creators if you want to add OO documents into
your right click- new menu of nautilus.

2008-10-19 Thread SEAQ - Andres Mujica
In the meantime it's possible to add this PPA repo in order to get
OpenOffice 3.0

https://launchpad.net/~openoffice-pkgs/+archive

probably it would go in ibex via backports..

BUT you must be aware that this can break your system, specially when
upgrading to intrepid release. So take this into account before testing,
and please be sure of what you're doing.

[Bug 284491] Re: open office 3 is not completly integrated to ubuntu nor gnome

2008-10-16 Thread Gert Kulyk
Hi manzur,

could you please clarify a few things?

1) Openoffice.org packaged by ubuntu-maintainers is using system libraries for
font-rendering etc. Sure, there is a known problem with cairo =1.6.4 because
the way subpixel-rendering is done changed, but this is not that trivial to fix
(and has been already reported).

2) There is an API for third-party applications - what else do you want?

3) Openoffice.org gnome and kde-integration is not ideal, sure, but
there is not really a lot ubuntu-packagers would be able to change,
because OOo is cross-platform.

4) This would be a nautilus-task. You can have something like this if
you place empty documents in your Templates directory.

Sourcepackagename: None = openoffice.org

[Bug 284491] Re: open office 3 is not completly integrated to ubuntu nor gnome

2008-10-16 Thread manzur
Anyway, I'm sure that Ubuntu 9.04 will have OpenOffice 3, but why wait 6 months
in something that can be done now?
As I said, if this be done, Ubuntu will gain a lot of bonus-users :P
This implies in a larger community, Ubuntu better-known, more money to
Canonical, etc etc etc

look at this idea please:
