In the meantime it's possible to add this PPA repo in order to get OpenOffice 3.0 https://launchpad.net/~openoffice-pkgs/+archive probably it would go in ibex via backports.. -- open office 3 is not completly integrated to ubuntu nor gnome https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/284491 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 284491] Re: open office 3 is not completly integrated to ubuntu nor gnome
Hi manzur, could you please clarify a few things? 1) Openoffice.org packaged by ubuntu-maintainers is using system libraries for font-rendering etc. Sure, there is a known problem with cairo =1.6.4 because the way subpixel-rendering is done changed, but this is not that trivial to fix (and has been already reported). 2) There is an API for third-party applications - what else do you want? 3) Openoffice.org gnome and kde-integration is not ideal, sure, but there is not really a lot ubuntu-packagers would be able to change, because OOo is cross-platform. 4) This would be a nautilus-task. You can have something like this if you place empty documents in your Templates directory. ** Changed in: openoffice.org (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: None = openoffice.org -- open office 3 is not completly integrated to ubuntu nor gnome https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/284491 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 284491] Re: open office 3 is not completly integrated to ubuntu nor gnome
Anyway, I'm sure that Ubuntu 9.04 will have OpenOffice 3, but why wait 6 months in something that can be done now? As I said, if this be done, Ubuntu will gain a lot of bonus-users :P This implies in a larger community, Ubuntu better-known, more money to Canonical, etc etc etc look at this idea please: http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/14433/ -- open office 3 is not completly integrated to ubuntu nor gnome https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/284491 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
