I confirm the bug, Yesterday I wanted to print a simple pdf. My printer is old (epson stylus 600) so I asked for the best quality. pdftoraster took more than 400MB and it took 30 minutes to print the page (I only have 512MB of ram...) I didn't print anything in high quality yet, but I tried bootchart and noticed pdftoraster runs at least 2s while the computer is booting. Another 2-3s it is I/O waiting.
