There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. If you could test the current Ubuntu development version (10.04), this would help us a lot. I also had this problem and in the end gave up, because upgrading to Intrepid killed my sound, wireless network and graphics drivers and I spent hours trying to fix them. I ended up re-installing the entire thing fresh and found that ndiswrapper worked more smoothly than it ever has before.
