Public bug reported: I installed the new updates and I restarted the system. Then, I couldn't start Ubuntu. There was a problem with the graphics and there was a window telling me that something had happened and I had to start in low graphics mode or reset the graphics configuration.
I was using the last Nvidia driver which I downloaded (and installed) from here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_ia32_177.82.html package nvidia-glx-177 None [modified: /var/lib/dpkg/info/nvidia-glx-177.list] failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/libGL.so.1', which is also in package libgl1-mesa-glx ProblemType: Package Architecture: i386 Dependencies: DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.10 ErrorMessage: trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/libGL.so.1', which is also in package libgl1-mesa-glx NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Package: nvidia-glx-177 None [modified: /var/lib/dpkg/info/nvidia-glx-177.list] ProcVersion: Linux version 2.6.27-9-generic ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) (gcc version 4.3.2 (Ubuntu 4.3.2-1ubuntu11) ) #1 SMP Thu Nov 20 21:57:00 UTC 2008 SourcePackage: nvidia-graphics-drivers-177 Title: package nvidia-glx-177 None [modified: /var/lib/dpkg/info/nvidia-glx-177.list] failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/libGL.so.1', which is also in package libgl1-mesa-glx Uname: Linux 2.6.27-9-generic i686 xkbcomp: ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-177 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-package -- package nvidia-glx-177 None [modified: /var/lib/dpkg/info/nvidia-glx-177.list] failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/libGL.so.1', which is also in package libgl1-mesa-glx https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/302936 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
