As of Jaunty Alpha 5, upgraded (update-manager -d) from Intrepid today, touchpad is working again. I ran apt-get update and apt-get dist-upgrade and it did not help. Perhaps I should try what you did. Hello, The same thing is happening on my HP Compaq NC6000 laptop. The touchpad + 4 mouse buttons ( 2 from touch pad and 2 from nub mouse ). do not work. In my case the nub mouse works fine, but the keys associated with it ( which are on the same circuit as the touch pad ) do not work. Running Hardy, the touch pad works most of the time, occassionally it stops working and has the same symptoms as above. I tried to take the lines from Xorg.conf from 8.04 that are related to my mouse and add them to Jaunty's xorg.conf.
