This bug has been fixed in Karmic. To reproduce the problem, I have touched ~/.cache/checkbox/lock and then tried running checkbox-gtk. Matt, could you try with the version in PPA: https://edge.launchpad.net /~checkbox-dev/+archive/ppa or the shortly available 0.7 version?
