[Bug 344400] Re: libvirtError: internal error unable to start guest

2009-09-30 Thread Peter Matulis
Is this bug only relevant to disk files? I am booting guests fine with
raw disks, albeit LVM-based.

Details:

On a Jaunty KVM host I'm using LVM. When creating a guest I allocated 2
logical volumes (4 GB and 80 GB) to it to be used as raw disks. With
virt-manager I used the first one (/dev/vda) for installation (with LVM
again; so LVM over LVM) and afterwards added the second one (/dev/vdb).
I also set up LVM on the second disk and created a 40 GB logical volume.
The VM starts fine.

[Bug 344400] Re: libvirtError: internal error unable to start guest

2009-07-25 Thread MarianoAbsatz
any guesses about when (and if) this will be fixed in jaunty?

I compiled and installed kvm 88 according to
http://www.linux-kvm.org/page/HOWTO1 but this doesn't generate a kvm command
that I can refer to from my .xml config files (instead of /usr/bin/kvm)... all
I find in /usr/local/bin is:
qemu-nbd
qemu-io
qemu-img
qemu-system-x86_64
qemu

I tried using /usr/local/bin/qemu but it doesn't work:
error: internal error Cannot determine QEMU argv syntax /usr/local/bin/qemu

Is there any guide about compiling kvm ubuntu style? that is, in a way
compatible with ubuntu's libvirt?

2009-06-04 Thread Jim Howell
I have learned that while this can be fixed using the above patch
(actually, I had to increase my timeout to over nine minutes!) - the
true cause of the issue is a bug in kvm-84.

kvm-85 will start even large VMs very quickly, obviating the need to
increase the startup timeout in the first place.

[Bug 344400] Re: libvirtError: internal error unable to start guest

2009-03-22 Thread Marc Deslauriers
This is happening because kvm opens the qcow file before opening the
pty.

I see this when opening a VM that has a qcow file around 4gb, and the
file's not already cached (ie: after a reboot).

Smaller VMs with a qcow file around 500-800 mb don't take enough time to
open to hit the timeout.
