2009-03-26 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please try to obtain a valgrind log following the
instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind and attach the file to
the bug report. This will greatly help us in tracking down your problem.

[Bug 346569] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crashed with signal 7

2009-03-26 Thread pores_n
I re-installed Jaunty, so I don't have the system crashing gnome-
settings-daemon.

Is Valgrind test useful under normally working Jaunty?

G_SLICE=always-malloc G_DEBUG=gc-friendly  valgrind -v --tool=memcheck
--leak-check=full --num-callers=40 --log-file=valgrind.log gnome-settings-daemon
Is this comannd what I enter?

the command is useful to run on a system which has the bug, and yes
that's the correct line, you need to stop a running instance first
though

2009-03-26 Thread pores_n
This is Valgrind log under normally working system.

I killed gnome-settings-daemon on gnome-system-monitor.
And I enter the following line:
G_SLICE=always-malloc G_DEBUG=gc-friendly valgrind -v --tool=memcheck
--leak-check=full --num-callers=40 --log-file=valgrind.log gnome-settings-daemon

The system which has the bug is gone on re-installing, I'm sorry for
that.

The above valgrind.log is on re-installed normally working system with
the same machine.

the bug requires extra informations on a system having the issue,
closing since nobody has the bug for now

2009-03-26 Thread notoriousdbp
Same here - I installed the plugins to play a dvd. Went to maximise
totem, x crashed and on reboot the human theme doesn't load, nor does
volume control, gnome power manager and gnome settings daemon.

This bug is marked as invalid and closed because lack of my information.

So notoriousdbp, you should open a new bug report.
And there, you should attach valgrind.log by following instructions.

Thank you.

[Bug 346569] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crashed with signal 7

2009-03-23 Thread pores_n
I searched gnome-settings-daemon in gnome-system-log,
but no hit except apport.log.

So, I gave up and re-install Jaunty.
I tried to get the same circumstance.
With fglrx, hung-up very easily.
But after reboot, the system works normally.

I only have /var/log/ and /var/crash/ at that time.
The other files are gone when re-install.
