[Bug 356415] Re: [indicator-applet 0.1] evolution notify icon still in the notify systray

2009-04-08 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Zied, the messaging menu is a deliberate part of cleaning up the
notification area. Having it in the panel removes the need for one
notification area icon for Evolution, one for Pidgin, one for Gwibber,
and so on.

[Bug 356415] Re: [indicator-applet 0.1] evolution notify icon still in the notify systray

2009-04-07 Thread Zied ALAYA
Chris say that this because both the mail notification and evolution-
indicator plugins enabled in Evolution.

But this is the default configuration, that's way I think it should be
consider as a bug. May be one solution will be to disable one of them.

To day (04/07/2009) I installed the new updates and there was an update
for mail notification plugin of evolution. the problem still here.

[Bug 356415] Re: [indicator-applet 0.1] evolution notify icon still in the notify systray

2009-04-07 Thread Zied ALAYA
The mail notification plugin of evolution was enabled by default.

No I did not upgrade from Intrepid.
I did a fresh install and I'm installing all updates daily.

And no I did not restore an old backup of evolution. I just added my
email account and I did not touch the any plugin configuration.

I have di this test too: I disabled this mail notification plugin of
evolution and restart my evolution client. As you can see in the
attachment, the mail notifier is in the systry. I verify my mails and
there is no new mail.

What part of the screenshot are you referring to? The only mail icon I
see is the indicator-applet and not the mail-notification plugin.

Did you upgrade your machine from Intrepid? The mail notification plugin
has been disabled by default in Evolution for some time now, but it may
still be enabled for some users who upgraded earlier from Intrepid

[Bug 356415] Re: [indicator-applet 0.1] evolution notify icon still in the notify systray

2009-04-07 Thread Zied ALAYA
As you can see in this long and hot discussion (
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-notifier/+bug/332945 ), the
notifier of updates, retart required after an update are eliminated from the
notification area.
As you can see in comment n°5 : It's part of a long-term plan to clean up the
notification area
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-notifier/+bug/332945/comments/5)

that's why I thought it's a bug.
I was wrong.

but I think that the proper behavior of the indicator-applet 0.1 will
be: appear in the notify area if there is new mail and disappear later
to clean up the notification area.

so, should I note this as a bug or added it in the blueprint for
indicator-applet 0.1 developers ?

PS: in the screenshot I'm referring to the indicator-applet.

This is because you have both the mail notification and evolution-
indicator plugins enabled in Evolution. Please disable the one that you
don't want to use.

I wanna to add that both the mail notification and evolution-indicator
plugins was enabled in Evolution by default. I did not enable or disable
one of them.

So one of them should be disabled by default.
