I am getting the same behavior on Dell E6400, however only when the system suspends on its own (via power management). Hi, Using Karmic, I got a black screen but mouse cursor moves on resume. Hibernate works perfectly (none worked with Jaunty). I tried pm-suspend and several quirks configurations and always had a strange "not enough resources"-like message when resuming: it seems the workspace is here, but nothing works... icons disappear and I can't launch even a terminal. I apologize for sloppiness here. I had enabled UXA acceleration a while ago and forgot about that. I have disabled and will report back about whether any problems persist. At least after running for a few hours without UXA I am not seeing the screen glitches I mentioned before. LXDE still resumes from suspend properly. louisJ: I keep a logout applet in the upper right corner on my top panel. I can always find this, even with a dark screen. Click once, press down arrow twice to get to "logout" and then hit enter and I get returned to a lit login screen. --- BTW, I installed LXDE and have been using that lately and waking from suspend is working here (backlight turns on properly). Some other ACPI related behavior seems different too --- e.g. Fn +F10/F11/F12 doesn't affect the volume setting. ACPI functions set via the eee-control-tray seem to work properly. Screen brightness key combinations work. I also notice some glitches in the display that I didn't see before -- occasional garbling of the image -- and sometimes a full glitch that involves the entire screen displaying a single color. Often it's just black (but with the backlight on), though I have seen green and orange as well. This happened a handful of times yesterday. I never noticed this before installing LXDE. These observations may be a bit off topic for this ticket, but the appearance of these behaviors were correlated with the return of proper resume from suspend behavior for me, so perhaps it gives a clue about the source of the resume problem. I am seeing the same behavior with the 2.6.28-14 kernel on a Eee PC 1000HEB. When resuming from suspend, the backlight does not turn on. If I log out at this point I find myself at a lit log in screen. However, logging in leads to non-working backlight again. Rebooting fixes the backlight issue until the next suspend. I mentioned the kernel version because I do NOT experience this problem when booting the 2.6.28-13 kernel. I edit : I tested suspend with karmic and I noticed after suspend to ram and restart that the screen stay black without any light. Meanwhile the kernel react to the key Alt - Syst - B so the computer reboot after I push the keys. The problem isn't the nvidia owner driver because I didn't install it. I add the suspend system work with windows, but I didn't test with an other Linux distribution as Fedora. I changed it back to new. When i said it was because of the laptop, i meant it's compatibilty with ubuntu.
