[Bug 363752] Re: No 5.1 sound with Realtek ALC888 in jaunty 9.04 RC

2010-03-13 Thread Jeremy Foshee
Hi hitaisin,

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development
release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If the issue remains, please run
the following command from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and
attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p alsa-base 363752

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your
results.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 363752] Re: No 5.1 sound with Realtek ALC888 in jaunty 9.04 RC

2009-06-10 Thread tpatru
I'm having this issue with my ecs amd690gm-m2, realtek alc883. Everything
worked perfectly with ubuntu 8.1, but now I have no 5:1 sound after upgrading
to 9.04.
As described above, when I choose 5:1 sound in VLC, i get this error:
Audio output failed:
The audio device surround51 is already in use.
Audio output failed:
VLC could not open the ALSA device surround51 (Device or resource busy).

2009-05-11 Thread tpatru
I'm having the same exact problem. Sound is stereo and comes from all
speakers, but nothing changes when I run vlc --aout alsa --alsadev
surround51. In windows, VLC plays the video perfectly with 5:1 sound.
