Can you please run this command: sudo force_start=1 /etc/init.d/apport start And then start system-config-printer again and repeat the steps necessary to trigger the bug. This time the crash should be detected by a crash report tool that will submit a bug that includes lots of logs and also a complete stacktrace (this will be very useful for the developers trying to fix the bug).
