Ah! No, not on my system, at least. Ubuntu 14.04, with all current updates. totem is 3.10.1-1ubuntu4 . Totem hung on me while I was testing, but that seemed related to opening a movie while another instance was running. I don't have time to go after that one right now! But nothing bad appeared at all related to loading subtitles. Tested it on two movies. Loading a new sub file did not reset or change the point in the movie at all. Looks fixed here. So, the upstream bug is marked fixed, but it hasn't reached Totem 3.4.3, as currently in Quantal. I'm afraid I'm a bit confused by bugzilla's Version field. It says 2.21.x. It doesn't mention the Gnome 3 series. Is 2.21.x the version where the bug was found, or where it was fixed? I guess I'll try, later, to see if the upstream patch at http://bugzilla-attachments.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=212598 applies to the Totem 3 source. Well totem just needs to get the movie time, load subtitles, and seek to the respective time. I just want to quickly chime in. I too am bugged by this behaviour. Just open a movie, and then manually load a subtitle (any will do). The movie will start from the beginning, with subtitle this time.
