Re: [Bug 379131] Re: continual problems with wi-fi connection but not wireless

2010-01-20 Thread Cakeboy
Hi,

I gave up on trying to use wireless with Ubuntu a long time ago.
I'm using the latest version of Karmic and I can't even get Ubuntu
to recognise my wireless connection.

Thanks

If the issue remains, could you run the following command from a
Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal) while running
Karmic. It

apport-collect -p linux 379131

Thanks in advance

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete

Bug description:
Using latest version of Ubuntu. After logging in to OS, wireless
LED on laptop goes dead or flickers or occasionally stays lit. I
can surf the net but keep getting disconnected and have to
reconnect. This can be a major problwm, especially if i'm
downloading a file as the download can freeze at any moment. It
can't be the router because I have no such problems on Vista and
I.E., also I don'y have the problem using a wired connection with
Ubuntu/Firefox. Would love to get this problwm sorted out
otherwise I have to use Vista which i would like to avoid as it's
so slow and un-user friendly.

2009-05-21 Thread delance
Run the command lspci -k | grep -A3 Network controller to get
card/driver identity.

It could be related to a bug on broadcom.

http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Documentation/Reporting_bugs
explains how to identify which components is causing the bug and how to
get last version of drivers.
