[Bug 381436] Re: complete system stall while opening .doc

2009-06-08 Thread Leann Ogasawara
Hi,

I'm unfortunately not seeing anything in terms of a kernel oops or panic
in the log file you attached. Just curious if you are able to reproduce
this issue every time you try to open the file? If so, would you be
able to ssh into the machine after it appears to freeze and grab dmesg
output? If you are able to reproduce you may want to also try the
latest mainline kernel build, 2.6.30-rc8 as of this comment,
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please let us know your
results. Thanks.

2009-06-06 Thread Chris Cheney
This sounds like a kernel bug of some sort. OOo should not be able to
completely crash a system.

[Bug 381436] Re: complete system stall while opening .doc

2009-06-03 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

** This bug is no longer flagged as a security vulnerability
