[Bug 382864] Re: xrandr cycling is all messed up with KMS
Sorry for not following up sooner, took a bit before I was rebooted without KMS, which I needed to do in order to show this is not (entirely) a gnome-settings-daemon issue. Here's the output of xrandr *without* KMS: $ xrandr Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1680 x 1050, maximum 2048 x 2048 VGA connected 1680x1050+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 473mm x 296mm 1680x1050 60.0*+ 1280x1024 75.0 60.0 1440x900 75.0 59.9 1280x960 60.0 1280x800 59.8 1152x864 75.0 1024x768 75.0 70.1 60.0 832x62474.6 800x60072.2 75.0 60.3 56.2 640x48075.0 72.8 66.7 59.9 720x40070.1 LVDS connected 1280x800+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 331mm x 207mm 1280x800 60.0*+ 50.0 1024x768 85.0 75.0 70.1 60.0 832x62474.6 800x60085.1 72.2 75.0 60.3 56.2 640x48085.0 72.8 75.0 59.9 720x40085.0 640x40085.1 640x35085.1 TMDS-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) $ Note the significantly increased number of available modes (4 extra modes for the VGA, and 4 extra modes for the LVDS), significantly, including the maximum LVDS resolution as one of the supported VGA resolutions. So perhaps that's a kernel bug rather than an X driver bug, but it's not a gnome-settings-daemon bug. ** Package changed: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) = xserver-xorg-video- intel (Ubuntu) -- xrandr cycling is all messed up with KMS https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/382864 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 382864] Re: xrandr cycling is all messed up with KMS
Steve, I've forwarded the bug upstream to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22779 and subscribed you to the bug. Please follow up on the upstream bug, as I have a suspicion they're going to want to have a bit more info. I am still not 100% sure this is actually an X bug, or something in gnome, but we'll assume it's X for now. I would have thought one of the recent -intel changes for EDID handling would have already fixed it, but I guess not. -- xrandr cycling is all messed up with KMS https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/382864 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 382864] Re: xrandr cycling is all messed up with KMS
Steve can you confirm this issue still exists with the most recent -intel driver? In our previous snapshot KMS was not allowing EDID to be exported to gnome-settings-daemon, however I cherrypicked a patch in 2:2.7.99.1+git20090602.ec2fde7c-0ubuntu5 on july 1st which purportedly fixes it. That patch is included in the upstream version we now have in the current snapshot. Anyway, my guess is that this is now fixed, but if not let me know and I'll stick it upstream for more analysis. -- xrandr cycling is all messed up with KMS https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/382864 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
