[Bug 383613] Re: Please merge lcdproc 0.5.2-3 (universe) from Debian unstable

2009-06-15 Thread Thierry Carrez
Hey Michael,
Good work on reducing the delta, however I would still leave out the unused
gentoo patch since it's confusing to have it in patches/ while it is unused.
Forwarding that delta to Debian would make sense (if not already done).
If you agree, please resubmit a fixed debian-to-ubuntu.debdiff and I'll upload
it :)

[Bug 383613] Re: Please merge lcdproc 0.5.2-3 (universe) from Debian unstable

2009-06-15 Thread Michael Terry
Done. I've also dropped the patch system that Ubuntu added. After
talking with Colin Watson, apparently the preferred thing to do is just
apply patches directly if the Debian packaging has no stated patch
system.

Debian bug about the gentoo patch: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=533177 (though, like the last bug, the Debian
maintainer just said 'yeah, will be fixed in next upload' so maybe soon
we can just sync it).

[Bug 383613] Re: Please merge lcdproc 0.5.2-3 (universe) from Debian unstable

2009-06-04 Thread Michael Terry
I aggressively tried to reduce the Debian delta in this merge. There
were several seemingly unnecessary changes to the packaging that I
dropped:

* 01_fix_driverpath.dpatch: Debian applied same change inline
* debian/lcdproc.LCDd.init: Commenters in bug 63488 say that both '1' and
'true' work. The man page uses '1' as an example.
* debian/patches/lcdproc-0.4.3-gentoo.diff: Added back in, as it's harmless
* debian/control autotools-dev Build-Depends: Didn't seem to fix anything, the
comment that added it didn't explain why it was useful. debian/rules doesn't
seem to do any autotool trickery.
