Acutally, I was planning to give the Ubuntu process a new try, and go for Debian once the package was accepted into Ubuntu. In particular synergy bug 420088 (from jaunty and upwards) and bug 486922 (from karmic and upwards) gives users a ghastly experience with synergy, and there is no upstream at all so these bug will not be fixed; I think those bugs alone are enough to drop "synergy" from both Debian and Ubuntu and replace it with a synergyplus package instead.
