Public bug reported: Binary package hint: grub
Ubuntu 9.04, fully updated. Sempron 2400+, 2GB ram, ATI 9200SE graphics card (works well). On starting up the system ran grub with no problems, then moved on to starting ubuntu on UUID7a49a256-2471-45cc-9933-78b8a5bbcfe9, but then froze. This happened to me only occasionally, but a post in ubuntuforums http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=7571367#post7571367 shows it has happened to at least one other. I overcame the problem, entirely by chance, by changing the UUID reference in the ubuntu grub to the older root (hd0,1) system and the problem has now gone away and not returned, both for me and, I hope, heller_barde. I have two ide disks not sata and wonder if this has any bearing on the problem. I realise there are good reasons for usingthe UUID in grub, (and fstab) but wonder if this problem has been seen before ** Affects: grub (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- grub finishes system freezes at "starting up" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/396246 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
