[Bug 397750] Re: mouse : input : event field not found

2012-04-02 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
jayprakash, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a
Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically
gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your
results.

Thanks in advance.

I can confirm this bug : I bought a Verbatim Rapier V2 mouse yesterday,

(laptop is my computer name)

The line shown appears whenever I presse anyone of the button
(left/right/previous/next/scroll), but also when I just move the mouse
or use the scroll wheel. I let you imagine how many lines that makes!!

I'm under Ubuntu 10.10, all latest patches. I notices that when I move
the mouse, the lines appears at the beginning and at the end of the
movement only (kind of startMoving/stopMoving event, but not during
moving event).

The problem did not appear with my previous mouse (logitech Cordless
click plus), nor with my trackpad.

I can add a full apport-collect report if necessary.

This message is flooding my kern.log, messages and syslog

Reason for this message is USB mouse Verbatim Rapier V2 bought on the
beginning of 2009.
Message is flooding my logs since then.

That time I was using 2.6.27 on intrepid.
Then short time 2.6.28 on jaunty.
  Currently 2.6.30-9 from https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa (on
jaunty)
(I will update to 2.6.30-10 but I'm convinced it will not help.)
I tryed also server and rt versions of kernel.

  Similar Bug : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/386671
  Reporter closed as hardware problem.
But I have here 2 same Rapier V2 and multiple notebooks, kernels .. all the
same.

Identical problem on Arch linux bugs: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/15461
  No answer and different mouse.

  Importance of this is low.
In truth, it's only an annoyance.
But as I'm trying to help with bug reports, and it's not very helpful to have
that message all over important logs.

- If I misjudged the right package for report, please move it on the right
- place. I really don't know which part of the system is doing it (apart
- from the kernel string in messages).

Hi jayprakash,

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development

the following command from a Terminal

attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 397750

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-

[Bug 397750] Re: mouse : input : event field not found

2010-02-21 Thread Andreas Fritiofson
I'm having the same problem here, with current karmic. My logs have
gotten cluttered like this for ages, but it's not until now I realised
what's causing these messages.

I have a Logitech MX500 mouse, with buttons above and below the scroll
wheel to scroll up/down just by holding one of these buttons. Every time
I push it, every time I release it, and a load of times when I move the
mouse while pressing it, one of these lines gets logged. Seriously
annoying, especially when scrolling in the System Log Viewer :P
