From the other screenshots this looks like a very common graphics driver issue in 9.04. Therefore I am closing this report as Invalid (though only invalid because I really dont know what driver bug in partticular it is ... though rest assured that all of them have been resolved in Ubuntu 9.10 ... should the splash screen bug remain after upgrading to = 9.10, please reopen this report so we can investigate closer). In facts, I am experiencing graphical problems also with other KDE applications under Gnome. Mostly with Kile and Okular. Maybe this problems are related? Maybe not.
