[Bug 416383] Re: unable to boot into recoverymode when nvida card is being used
Hi welshlad, Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If the issue remains, please run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux 416383 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. [This is an automated message. [Bug 416383] Re: unable to boot into recoverymode when nvida card is being used
After many months have now resolved this problem , it was as simple as a two lines of code in a the blacklist.conf file. Problem was that the PC was unable to boot up with it connected to my nvidia card fx6200 , the onboard is a intel, and was dissabled at bios , but even booting up in recovery mode would still fail. Thing this was a driver issue tried everything , to no avail. Then I found out that the linux kernal still picked up the intel GFX card and installed the Kernal modual for it. And this was conflicting with the nvida, and hence failed to work. This fix was so simple. It was :- /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf #intel onboard gfx blacklist agpgart blacklist intel_agp SAVE Reboot. Now Compez works fine and so dose video playback. I still think this is a kernal bug, but all is now ok. -- unable to boot into recoverymode when nvida card is being used https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/416383 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
