[Bug 433331] Re: [Karmic Alpha 6] CPU Frequency scaling not working (p4-clockmod)
Hi Hamish, This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux 41 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. [This is an automated message. [Bug 433331] Re: [Karmic Alpha 6] CPU Frequency scaling not working (p4-clockmod)
The reason p4-clockmod doesn't seem to work, is because the conservative and ondemand modules are no longer included with the default ubuntu kernels. Once you have p4-clockmod modules loaded you should be able to change the processor speed with a reloaded userspace CPU Frequency Monitor. But non of the automatic cpu_freq_gov should work except for powersave and performance -- [Karmic Alpha 6] CPU Frequency scaling not working (p4-clockmod) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/41 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 433331] Re: [Karmic Alpha 6] CPU Frequency scaling not working (p4-clockmod)
I have a similar problem on a Pentium D 960. Normally, I scale this thing down using p4-clockmod in other distros, but ubuntu insists on loading acpi-cpufreq and refuses to unload it so I can load the p4-clockmod. Long story short, both cores are stuck @ 3.60GHZ and the box is just idling most of the time. -- [Karmic Alpha 6] CPU Frequency scaling not working (p4-clockmod) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/41 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

ondemand and conservative don't work yet on the latest p4-clockmod of 2.6.31-17-generic kernel on my eeepc 4G(701). After it's replaced to the modified p4-clockmod, they work fine. [Bug 433331] Re: [Karmic Alpha 6] CPU Frequency scaling not working (p4-clockmod)
I have a similar problem. There used to be a 'remember authorization' checkbox so I didn't have to always enter my password to change cpu frequency, but now it's gone. It's been replaced by a 'Details' dropdown which says 'Action: org.gnome.cpufreqselector'. Clicking that doesn't open anything. What happens is a little icon appears and I can click it to drop all authorizations, but not to change them. Had to install gnome-policykit to get the authorizations program back... which doesn't have very much in it. org.gnome-cpufreqselector isn't in it. Also tried to look for it in gconf-editor. uname -r 2.6.31-11-generic Any other console outputs you need let me know. -- [Karmic Alpha 6] CPU Frequency scaling not working (p4-clockmod) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/41 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
