Yes! Solved!! Thank you Roman Bazalevsky. I found the folowing line in .bashrc: xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap I simply commented the line and it works! After openning a terminal, when I want to use down arrow key or end key in any program, it simply does not work neither in the terminal, where down arrow is very usefull to navigate already typed commands nor in any program, i.e. navigator or text editor, so I can't use the arrow to navigate the pages. 2. the behavior you expected, and I expect that when I want to use down arrow key, I don't have to do the rare procedure I describe in point 3). 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). I have fouund that I have two options to partially solve this problem: i) press Num Lock and work with numeric pad as a page navigator or ii)go to Sistem-preferences-keyboard-distribution_tab and change my keyboard distribution (actually I had found that there are 2 distributions that behavies similar so I switch between them each time I have the problem). None of the two procedures are good at all to me, number i) because it's much easier to navigate with arrows than with keypad, and number ii) bacause it is not funny for me to change my keyboard distribution each time I open a terminal.
