Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox
This is with Ubuntu 9.10 alpha 6, operating as a virtual machine with VirtualBox 3.0.6, running on an Intel imac (Snow Leopard). I noted the problem in earlier alphas, and the slow sound is also manifest in the Ubuntu startup sound after login. It is evident in any mp3 or mp4 I play (with gstreamer additions). As the problem was reported to be related to pulseaudio, I tried removing it but nothing changed. For context, I can report that with the same alpha running on the same Mac but in VMware Fusion, there is no sound at all when playing the same mp's, but removing pulseaudio results in normal sound. Also for context, with same version of VirtualBox and same mac, Ubuntu 9.04 doesn't have this problem; in fact I can't remember ever having this problem as far back as Ubuntu 7.10.
