an easy workaround: select the text you want to reply to, and hit reply, it will use the displayed text directly https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=314333#c3 This is still an issue with Karmic for me. There are a few reports on bugzilla.gnome.org with status RESOLVED.
