Hey, I have nearly the same problem, but I only have the 'poc' sound like connecting the speakers. Nothing else. No output of audio-terrorism. So I would be glad for any adwise... Can you explain what you mean with sound is kaputt? Is there no sound at all or is it popping and cracking? Hey David, thank you for your answer. I know Karmic is still beta and i do not expect my laptop to run smoother because i filed this bug. But maybe the data i provided helps fixing pulseaudio(just a guess) for others, too (if you dont think so, then you can close this case, i wont be mad :) The sound level after the upgrade was enormously high - i read that i should lower PCM under 50, so i did (it helped, although PCM is affected by the audio applet in gnome). some more information on kaputt: most of the time there is no sound. media plays in various players, but theres no output from the speakers. Just every few seconds there is a 'poc' sound like connecting the speakers The sound glitches in VLC, Rhythmbox sometimes suddenly outputs something that i would describe as audio-terrorism. i cannot reproduce errors.
