[Bug 456367] Re: If you delete indicator-applet-session from the panel, there's no way (in UNR launcher) to shutdown

2010-02-12 Thread Didier Roche
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better.
We think this bug should be now fixed in lucid, as we force a set of applet
shown as being the UNE experience. Users will also have the choice of switching
to GNOME session on GDM to control panels content.

In the meanwhile, I set the report as Fix Released for easier tracking,
do not hesitate to set it as Confirmed again if the bug is still present
for you in lucid.

Ara, can you please confirm whether or not it is possible to shutdown
using the power button as described in comment #2? Thanks

That actually seems to be a totally separate problem, could one of you
experiencing this please create another bug and reference the bug # here
as soon as you can. In particular, I'd be interested in knowing if it
looks like it failed to install? or did it install and crash when it
tried to come up? Or what? Thanks!

Like Tor, I never got the Indicator Session applet after upgrading from
Jaunty to Karmic Beta with UNR. It was very disconcerting trying to
figure out how to shut down. Maybe this should be opened as a new bug,
let me know.

After upgrading from Jaunty to Karmic the Indicator Session applet was
never added, so I actually had to shut down with sudo halt until I
figured out the workaround.

[Bug 456367] Re: If you delete indicator-applet-session from the panel, there's no way (in UNR launcher) to shutdown

2009-10-20 Thread Paul Larson
At first glance, I would say that part of this is a dup of bug #448109
however, this bug seems to relate more specifically with inability to
shutdown if a user chooses to remove this particular component. It
should also be possible to shutdown using the power button (soft power
off). Doing so should bring up a menu asking the user if they want to
shutdown, restart, or hibernate the system. Are you not getting this
when you use the power button?
