No problems so far, as I stated above. Most likely the bug can be
closed.

[Bug 46547] Re: firefox doesn't run properly and crashes badly

2006-12-13 Thread David Farning
Is anyone still having this issue? After doing some poking around it
looks like a kde application maybe be writing something flaky to
~/.gtkrc

If you are still having this issue please post the contents of

~/.gtkrc and ~/.gtkrc-2.0

Thanks
David

[Bug 46547] Re: firefox doesn't run properly and crashes badly

2006-11-01 Thread Albert Cardona
firefox 2.0 runs kick-ass on edgy-ppc. No more problems to report, no
need to delete my ~/.gtk* every time I log in! (I even had a script to
do that on boot)

[Bug 46547] Re: firefox doesn't run properly and crashes badly

2006-09-15 Thread Albert Cardona
More on the issue: as of today, every time the computer is rebooted one
has to manually

$ rm -rf ~/.gtk*

for firefox not to hang. The crashs is so bad the entire Xorg goes crazy
(in mmeory and chip usage) and one has to control+alt+F2 and login from
a tty and killall -KILL firefox-bin .

Except for this, firefox works great. No more pixmap problems.

The problem right above was solved by removing the ~/.gtkrc-2.0 file
from my home folder.

2006-07-02 Thread Franz
(firefox-bin:6925): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion
`G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed
Destroy
The program 'firefox-bin' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadShmSeg (invalid shared segment parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 257 error_code 167 request_code 144 minor_code 2)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

removing the .gtkrc-2.0* directories didn't help and creating a new

Yes, removing ~/.gtkrc-2.0 out of the way let me launch firefox
(finally!) without problems. I didn't need to remove any of the other
.gtkrc* files.

[Bug 46547] Re: firefox doesn't run properly and crashes badly

2006-06-23 Thread Franz
If you are right, the file which causes problems must be installed by Dapper
Drake itself because I am running my Dapper on its own partition where no other
OS was installed before. All I know is: I need a solution at soon as possible!
- I can't user Thunderbird because it crashes EACH time I start it
- Firefox runs instable

That's something I would expect in Redmond OS but not in linux!

HELP! :-(

[Bug 46547] Re: firefox doesn't run properly and crashes badly

2006-06-20 Thread Franz
The problem seems to be NOT firefox itself because I have a separate
firefox installation which works in Breedy without any problems but
causes the same output started in Dapper Drake.

IMHO the problem must be caused by GTK or the x environment

I agree, other gtk applications show incorrect bitmaps as well, although
so far no crashes. I can't use Inkscape or ethereal, for two examples,
and also GCJ applications (except openoffice)
