Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: phonon

When a sound is played by a KDE application (KDE system notifications included)
before another sound finishes playing, the second one almost always fails. It
may simply not be played, or it can produce random noises, or it can interrupt
the sound that was playing before.
Pulseaudio is installed and is set as the preferred device for all sound
sources in Systemsettings and xine backend is being used.
The sound card is a Turtlebeach Santa Cruz (Sound Fusion CS46xx).
This did not happen in Kubuntu 9.04 with KDE 4.2.x.
