Revup, You can check out the following thread that eventually fixed my problem. I left the bug status as new because I know others were having the same problem but was unsure if the cause was the same. Perhaps you can comment on your experience afterword. Help! could not install from CD because of this bug. So I installed 9.04 and upgraded via package manager. Now after the upgrade is completed, there is no GUI, only a black screen with cmd prompt.
