[Bug 482875] Re: [CLE266]Since upgrade from jaunty to karmic, one of two thin clients' login broken (AIGLX problem).
I found the same problem with an Aleutia E2 (VIA Eden CX700/VX700, openchrome), lucid, LTSP thin client. It appears to be caused by this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/673072 Note that it usually, but not always, fails to log in from ldm on the LTSP client. The session crashes after about 3 seconds of spinning wheel wait cursor, and I get kicked back to the login screen. There is a workaround that you could try in that bug report: force gnome to use metacity instead of compiz as the window manager. -- [CLE266]Since upgrade from jaunty to karmic, one of two thin clients' login broken (AIGLX problem). https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482875 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have the same problem with openchrome on one karmic client and with kde 4.3 on LTSP server. If KDE 3.5 on LTSP server it works fine. On other ltsp client with openchrome it works with both KDE 4.3 and KDE 3.5. -- [CLE266]Since upgrade from jaunty to karmic, one of two thin clients' login broken (AIGLX problem). https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482875 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Add the to the Section Device following lines: Option XAANoOffscreenPixmaps Next, find the Section ServerLayout for your graphics card, and add the following: Option AIGLX true Try also enable compositing extension. -- [CLE266]Since upgrade from jaunty to karmic, one of two thin clients' login broken (AIGLX problem). https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482875 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 482875] Re: [CLE266]Since upgrade from jaunty to karmic, one of two thin clients' login broken (AIGLX problem).
OK.. wee problem related to my ignorance in configuring xorg.conf from scratch: at least under LTSP, xorg.conf is generated on the fly when the thin client boots up. I have created a custom xorg.conf for the various parameters outlined in this thread, but this does not include a ServerLayout section for the graphics card. How do I ensure the right naming convention for my card, so that we are sure it is actually read? Sorry. My mistake. There is no ServerLayout.
