[Bug 493283] Re: karmic installer crashed during manual partition setup (complained about some partitions)
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running only once: apport-collect 493283 and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue. ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/493283 Title: karmic installer crashed during manual partition setup (complained about some partitions) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/493283/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

** Description changed: Binary package hint: ubiquity - First, manual partition setup is a pain in the ass because the window is - much too small and I can't resize it. + First, manual partition setup is a pain because the window is much too + small and I can't resize it. [Bug 493283] Re: karmic installer crashed during manual partition setup (complained about some partitions)
After the crash I was still in the install dialog, and went back to the partition setup. I could not modify any partitions (again, advanced manual setup). I clicked back to have it re-read the partition table and got this crash (probably because of the previous crash): Traceback (most recent call last): File /usr/lib/ubiquity/ubiquity/frontend/kde_ui.py, line 1089, in on_back_clicked self.dbfilter.cancel_handler() File /usr/lib/ubiquity/ubiquity/filteredcommand.py, line 394, in cancel_handler self.exit_ui_loops() File /usr/lib/ubiquity/ubiquity/filteredcommand.py, line 368, in exit_ui_loops while self.ui_loop_level 0: AttributeError: 'Page' object has no attribute 'ui_loop_level' After this, the whole installation program had crashed. -- karmic installer crashed during manual partition setup (complained about some partitions) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/493283 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 493283] Re: karmic installer crashed during manual partition setup (complained about some partitions)
File system has an incompatible feature enabled. Compatible features are has_journal, dir_index, filetype, sparse_super and large_file. Use tune2fs or debugfs to remove features. This is the file system error I got, probably for my ext2 /boot file system. Probably because the dialog does not say which file system it doesn't like. I left out the ntfs file system this time and told the installer to format / with ext4, which leaves only /boot to complain about. Then it says: The test of the file system with type ext2 in partition #3 of SCSI8 (0,0,0) (sdc) found uncorrected errors. If you do not go back to the partitioning menu and correct these errors, the partition will be used as is. and I click Continue to use it as is.
Then it continues the setup and tells me it cannot create the root file system in /dev/mapper/ubuntu. I get this error: ubiquity.components.partman_commit failed with exit code 1. Further information may be found in /var/log/syslog. Do you want to try running this step again before continuing? If you do not, your installation may fail entirely or may be broken. I get back to the disk setup which has now graphical glitches (see attached screenshot).?field.comment=Then it continues the setup and tells me it cannot create the root file system in /dev/mapper/ubuntu. [Bug 493283] Re: karmic installer crashed during manual partition setup (complained about some partitions)
Before running the installer again, I checked the /boot file system on the USB stick: ubu...@ubuntu:~$ sudo fsck.ext2 /dev/sdc3 e2fsck 1.41.9 (22-Aug-2009) /dev/sdc3: clean, 53/48576 files, 52351/194048 blocks I unmounted the /dev/mapper/ubuntu file system. This had been mounted before because I needed to check that it was the one I actually want to reformat. Looks like that did the trick. Maybe the installer could warn if I try to format a mounted partition. -- karmic installer crashed during manual partition setup (complained about some partitions) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/493283 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
