*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 494166 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/494166 Confirmed in lucid alpha 1. The trouble is that nvidia-glx-185 (185.18.36-0ubuntu9) provides the virtual package name xserver-xorg- video-5, which conflicts with xserver-xorg-core (2:1.7.3.901-1ubuntu2) ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 494166 [lucid] nvidia-glx can't work with new xorg 7.5 -- installing nvidia-glx-185 (173 96) removes xserver-xorg https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/497054 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 497054] Re: installing nvidia-glx-185 (173 96) removes xserver-xorg
I stated that above nvidia-glx-185 (173 96) but there isn't a 190. 180 is just a transitional package for nvidia-glx-185. I think this is a big problem because I first found this problem just my simply trying to enable Visual Effects in gnome. After enabling it installed the nvidia-glx and uninstalled xserver-xorg without my knowledge. I just rebooted and X wouldn't start. Then I messed around until I figured out xserver-xorg was nolonger installed. -- installing nvidia-glx-185 (173 96) removes xserver-xorg https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/497054 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
