Your problems probably started when you launched firefox with sudo. The solution would be to run: sudo chown -R m42h31:m42h31 ~/.mozilla Which will restore you as the owner on all the files in the directory. After that, run: chmod -R 700 ~/.mozilla to restore you as the only user who can access those files. You can enable apport for one instance like this: sudo service apport start force_start=1 I am marking this invalid as apport will open a new bug when the crash is generated.
