[Bug 501737] Re: gpsd: client(0): channel assignment failed.
Do you have a gps receiver at all? If not, I'd suggest that you just remove gpsd or ignore the errors. Without a connected gps receiver it is obvious that you see errors gpsd is started as a daemon at boot time normally, so that is normal that you don't see a parent process. There are a lot of applications being able to use gpsd, pretty much all applications which do something with maps or some kind of geo/gis stuff. But again - without a gps receiver it doesn't make sense to have it installed. ** Changed in: gpsd (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- gpsd: client(0): channel assignment failed. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/501737 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 501737] Re: gpsd: client(0): channel assignment failed.
hello Bernd, The reason that i have not provide more info, is while i have no idea of what can use it. >From the web the only application that i see can eventually use it are "ntpd" but i don't run any special applications that it use so far i know. I run vidalia, Tor and ftp service when i have this message in my log but it come regulary so i think that's ntpd. The process from gpsd say: gpsd-F /var/run/gpsd.sock -P but don't see any parent processus. Can you please told me if are possible or what kind of application on karmic kubuntu can use it ? I hope that you can help me a bit to find and provide the missing infos. Hi, unfortunately there is no useful information in your bug report. - The error message in the subject might be nothing bad, depending on whats going on - The attached log doesn't show any gpsd related problems - It is neither mentioned what you did to run into the problem nor which gps Device you're using. If you think that you really have a problem with gpsd, please provide some useful informations. Cheers, Bernd ** Changed in: gpsd (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- gpsd: client(0): channel assignment failed. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/501737 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
