Public bug reported: I installed 64-bit Kubuntu on my computer. Everything went fine, but soon I found out that I couldn't get 64-bit binaries of some software I want, and dpkg refused to install them. So I decided to reinstall as a 32-bit system.
Durin the text mode install (the graphical one doesn't work) I made a mistake. I accidentally marked my root partition as "Do not format", and the installer threw an error. So I had to go back and I got no errors. Then, I was asked a question (can't remember what it was) I've never been asked before. I answered and the install completed. When I booted to the fresh installation and saw the login boxes, I realised it didn't ask for my account details. I went into recovery mode and checked /etc/passwd, and indeed, no user was created. Sure, I could've created the user in recovery mode, but I decided to install the OS again, because I couldn't be sure if the installer had skipped other important steps. I didn't make the partition mistake this time, and everything went smoothly and the user was created. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Text mode installer does not create user https://launchpad.net/bugs/50911 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
