Public bug reported: Today i had to find out that after updating Karmic three days ago, my dvd device of my laptop doesn't work anymore (HP Compaq 6715b). I never had problems before. I am using Karmic since its release (never had problems back til hardy).
I am able to OPEN the device to insert a dvd or cd, but after closing, the device starts working but stops after a while with no result. nautilus doesn't show up with it either. I also tried a dvd that played all the time before - same result. When this appeared first time, I was at least able to sudo eject /dev/cdrom But before restart, I tried to solve it with updating til the last karmic updates (30 minutes ago). After restart, not even the code above would result in an eject. (Actually, i wonder, why it worked first time, because the dvd was not detected then as well ...). So now i have to restart everytime i try to get back my dvd and eject it while booting. If you need further info, let me know (and don't forget to advice me how to get it :-P).
