Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and help to improve Ubuntu. Your report shows that you have the VGA16 framebuffer, so text prompts are the expected behavior due to bug #526892. Boot does not fail. It's text based with a lot of screen artefacts and flickering. It shows the blue/white progress bars in combination with text.
