I can confirm this behavior in a Virtual Box VM as well as on my actual desktop. The installer update process hangs at 99%. Possibly unrelated, but I noted that when trying to install the latest ubiquity under the Live CD environment (to check whether this bug had been fixed) by typing "sudo apt-get install ubiquity" the response comes back that there isn't enough disk space in /var/cache/apt/archives (presumably mounted as a ram disk?) Maybe the "Update this installer" is trying to download too much and it runs out of space and bombs out the installation? Although there was no mention of this in the logs that I could see.
