Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

The volume control stops working completely and get stuck at 100% volume
sometimes. The hotkeys (fn+F keys on laptop) do not react anymore. The
volume control can be opened and the slider adjusted but nothing
happens. Individual applications with volume control, such as Rhythmbox,
Totem or Youtube flash player can still adjust volumes. Trying to open
Sound preferences results in a dialog saying "Waiting for sound system
to respond" and nothing more.

I think it may have something to do with apps that try to use ALSA and
that PA's emulation craps out or something?

It seems this happens after using for instance Wine programs (where
sound is horrible as well) which uses ALSA, and also it happened after
using Flash when I tried the version directly from Adobe, which didn't
use ndiswrapper like the one from repos does.

Will be happy to provide any other info if you can tell me what to
provide.
